Lots going on!

I hope everyone had a great February Vacation.  We are entering one of the busiest times of the year so before I share this weeks winners of the Character Word of the Week, here are a few things to make note of.

Big Ryan
Don't forget to join us this Thursday evening at 6:30 for Family Story Night with Big Ryan.  Big Ryan is a master story teller and he always a big hit with my own kids.  We hope you can join us!

Dr. Seuss Day

To celebrate Read Across America we have been asking for students to read independently for 15 mins at home.  Students who complete 15 mins of reading time have their parents sign a Dr. Seuss hat which we then hang on the wall of the school.  Our goal is to fill the wall and meet MKG in the middle.  We are very close.  Please help us reach our goal and encourage your child to read!  Also please wear Red White and Black on Friday as we celebrate Dr. Seuss's Birthday!

BOX TOPS WINNERS!!
Congratulations to the following classes...

Mrs. Mastropietro, Mrs. Ferriera, Mrs. Card, Mrs. Martin and Mrs. Kaufman

Each of those classes will be treated to a Magic Show on March 5th at 1:30.  They were the classes with the highest total at each grade level.  Great job and thank you for all your support collecting BOX TOPS!

Spaghetti Supper
Please mark your calendar for March 22nd and plan on joining us for our annual spaghetti supper!  This year we have will have entertainment provided by Matt Roberts, an exciting performer, magician and comedian who is nationally recognized and has even performed along side the Muppets!  This is a great affordable way to spend a night out with your family, eat dinner and be entertained.  We hope you can join us.  Tickets go on sale from March 12th until March 20th.  Thank you to our AWESOME PTA for arranging this exciting evening!

MCAS Attendance
We have MCAS coming up for grades 3-5.  You will hear much more about this in the coming weeks but I want to mention a couple of things related to MCAS.
1. DON"T STRESS!  Please help us ease the anxiety.  MCAS is nothing to worry about and in fact students will do better if they are not stressed.  We want all students to try their hardest but not to worry.
2. GET REST AND EAT A HEALTHY BREAKFAST!  On the day of the test the best thing you can do to support your child is to make sure they get a good night sleep and eat a healthy low sugar breakfast!
3.  BE HERE!  Please do your best to ensure your child is present in school on the day of testing.  All students must take the MCAS and it is easier if they are here and take the test on the day the test is given.

If you have any questions or concerns regarding MCAS please do not hesitate to give us a call.

And now for the Character Word of the Week Winners!  The word of the week was Courtesy.  Congratulations to the following students.  Great Job!
