Anti Bullying

This Wed. Mr. Gobeil and I had the opportunity to join the classes of Mrs. McPherson, Mrs. Procknik and Mrs. Brandenburg as their students were participating in the Paper Plate Project.  The Paper Plate Project  is something that all three teachers designed to teach Tolerance and to help HBB become a better place.  They had students from grades 3-5 in mixed groups, reading books about tolerance, creating friendship posters and they had students design plates where they had to place what good friends do inside the heart, and what they don't outside of the heart.  The message students received is that it's what's on the inside that counts!  We had a great time and so did the kids.

Check out these pics from our visit!

Read Your Heart Out Day!

Today Dr. Weiss and I had the chance to go to Ms. Lee's first grade class as they were celebrating Read Your Heart Out Day!  Students came to school today in comfy pj's and spent the day reading a wide variety of books.  I had the chance to read one of my favorites Cloudy With a Chance of Meatballs!

Here is a pic of the students listening to Dr. Weiss as she read them a story.

Thank you Exon Mobil!

What a busy day today!  Mrs. Duton from Exon Mobil came today to present Dr. Weiss and I with a check for $500.  Thank you.....we will be sure to put the money to good use!

That is it for now.  Please have a safe and relaxing April Vacation.  We will see you all when you get back!

MCAS and a few other items

We have ELA MCAS for 2013 behind us!  I would like to thank the entire HBB Community for your support during MCAS.

First, our attendance was exceptional, so thank you for that!  Second, thank you to all the staff and students who had to deal with changing schedules and everything else.  Third, thank you to all the wonderful parent volunteers who helped deliver snacks and monitor the halls.  And lastly, thank you to all the parents and guardians who helped their child by encouraging them to work their hardest, get to bed on time, eat a healthy breakfast and for everything else you do everyday.  No one is more important in the lives of our children than you and you really help us set the tone for each day!

3rd Grade Class
I have meant to share this for about a week, sorry for the delay!  I had the great pleasure of joining Mrs. Deluca's class during a really cool project she had students participating in where she had students working with iPads to research, as a team, to answer the question "What is the harshest environment on Earth that animals can survive and what types of adaptations allow them to live there"

Students were broken up into groups and were charged with the task of working together to find a harsh environment, choose an animal, find the important words related to that animal and its adaptations and they were then going to write an informative essay explaining their animal and its adaptations.

I was very impressed with this very high level assignment, yet I was even more impressed with the students.  They were working hard and coming up with some incredible information.  Great job guys....here are a couple of pics from my visit!

Go Team
Here are a couple of Pics from Mrs. Doak's Go Team expanded learning group.  She has students participating in a variety of challenging activities designed help build team work, collaboration and thinking skills.
