5th Grade Field Day Lunch

Just a quick note to let all parents of grade 5 students know that on the lunch that will be served for grade 5 students will be Ham and Cheese Sandwich with an Apple and Carrot Sticks.  Due to changes in the Wellness Policy Lunch will not be provided to ALL students this year.  If students want lunch they must purchase it unless you are provided a free lunch.  Students are welcome to bring their own bagged lunch on that day as well.

Spelling Bee

The 56th annual Kramer Spelling Bee was held on June 4th at the Henry B. Burkland School.  Every year three children from each fourth grade homeroom from the Henry B. Burkland and the Mary K. Goode Schools are chosen through a series of spelldowns in their room.  This year 36 students were involved.
The Spelling Bee was named in honor of Abraham Kramer, and was initiated by his son, the late Alton Kramer.  Mr. Kramer, a former Middleboro businessman, sponsored the event for many years.  Recently this event has been renamed as simply the Kramer Spelling Bee to honor both of these gentlemen.
Congratulation went to all the students who participated in this year’s Spelling Bee. Special recognition goes to Nicholas Coe who won this year’s bee, as well as Cassandra Heleen who took second place and Russell Stonestreet who came in third. All three winners were from the Mary K. Goode School.
All participants received a book and a certificate, with the top three winners receiving trophies as well.  The trophies and books are donated anonymously in honor of the Kramer family.
