We are wrapping up another busy week here and we are getting excited to see the first true signs of Spring! Our kids are still plugging away at PARCC and we are nearing the finish. Thank you to everyone for making sure your kids are here on testing days and are prepared for the test. Please keep encouraging them. They are doing great and we are almost done!
Rapid Fire Math
This week Ms. Fecteau, Ms. Skelly and Mrs. Hickie's classes went out side for a game of Rapid Fire Math. Students were divided and mixed into four teams, they played with multiplication and division and when a team got an equation correct they marked the number on their hundreds chart. Whichever team had the most numbers marked won. ALL the kids showed amazing sportsmanship.....which is our Character Word for next week!
1st Grade Good Egg Challenge
I issued the Good Egg Challenge and the First Grade EGGcepted! All first grade classrooms came together today to complete the Good Egg Challenge. The first grade team and volunteer parents read Ordinary Mary’s Extraordinary Deed by: Emily Pearson, a book about a girl who does one good deed that has a powerful impact on many people. One good deed grows to more than 6 billion and our students learned that one nice thing can really make a difference.
After reading the book the they watched a slide show created by Mrs. Bertelli and Mrs. DiStefano about the Middleborough Public Library and each first grade student created two bookmarks for the public library. They will be available at the desk for patrons to take and enjoy so if you have a chance to stop by the Library, check them out!
