Pack your Burkland’s Best Shirts!
With Vacation right around the corner we just want to remind everyone to pack your B-Best Shirts for vacation. Take a picture of yourselves doing something fun and send it in for our new “Burkland’s Best Everywhere” board.

Ella’s Lemonade Stand
We are selling awesome lemonade kits for $3 in the office to support Jesse’s family. We sent home order forms in the Tuesday folder but you do not need the order form if you just stop by the office. All proceeds from the sale of the lemonade kits will go to Jesse’s family.

Wellness
In an effort to improve the health of all students and to ensure that students with food related allergies are kept safe the School Committee has adopted a new food policy effective March 1st.

As of March 1st the only food allowed into the class are students’ individual snack. Additionally, students are not allowed to share their snack. We will no longer be allowing celebrations in class to involve food. This is not a major change from our previous policy but we would like to ask for your assistance and ask that you not send in food other than lunch and snack as it will not be allowed in the class.

Again, we have this policy because we must ensure a safe learning environment for all students and we have students with life threatening food allergies. We appreciate your understanding and should you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact us.

BOXTOPS
Don't forget to send in your BOXTOPS.  They will be collected all next week right up to Thursday!

Brian Lies
Brian Lies is an author of children's books and has been here all week for grade 2.  He hosted an assembly for both HBB and MKG and he has been visiting classes all week.  The kids seem to really enjoy his visits.  Here are a couple of photos from the assembly.

Scott Cannon
Ms. McLaughlin shared these pictures with me of Ms. Holmgren's class working with Scott Cannon.

Physical Education Dept.

The PE Dept at HBB has a goal of increasing student exercise and activity outside of school, particularly for grade 5 students.  To support their efforts they have been putting together a periodic newsletter, which we have shared through this blog and they have taken numerous steps to encourage and inform parents as to the things which can be done outside of school to increase activity.  To support those efforts they would like to share the attached exercise log for grade 5 students ( anyone can feel free to use it ) and the attached survey for grade 5 parents to complete.  Completed surveys can be sent back in with students.
